The Elm Heights Historic District (EHHD) guidelines review process is underway.
After the guidelines review committee has finished the review of the guidelines, the revised draft guidelines and report will be made available to all property owners in the EHHD and at least one public meeting announced to all owners in the district will be held to solicit feedback. This meeting will be held even if the committee concludes that no changes are necessary. An effort will also be made to solicit comments by means other than the public meeting.
After making any adjustments deemed appropriate based on the feedback, the committee will present the revised draft guidelines document and report to the Bloomington Historic Preservation Commission (BHPC) for adoption. If the BHPC does not approve the revised guidelines, an explanation must be given to the committee. The committee and the BHPC will then attempt to iterate the guideline revisions and report until they reach a compromise result acceptable to both. An effort will be made to notify the property owners of any changes adopted.
